Cleanly-finished alabaster texture reads clearly from across the reading corner while still looking substantial up close. The wall placement looks more open without taking up any surface space, which is exactly what I wanted here.

Low-key stone-like surface looks especially good in lower ambient light, where the whole piece feels softer. The outline stays subtle from the side and adds detail without making the wall look busy.
