Description:
An elegant antique painting by French artist Gustave Jaquet, known for his refined depictions of historical scenes, portraits, and figures inspired by the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. A student of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Jaquet was celebrated for his meticulous attention to detail, rich color palette, and exceptional rendering of luxurious textiles.
Jaquet exhibited at the Paris Salon beginning in 1865 and received multiple honors, including a third-class medal in 1868, a first-class medal in 1875, and the prestigious Legion d'Honneur in 1879.
This piece is housed in its original frame and remains in excellent condition. The glass has been removed; earlier photographs showing reflections were taken prior to its removal.
