Antique Victorian Brass Parlor Student Lamp

This romantic Victorian lamp appears to be in its original condition (meaning that the lamp has not been electrified and appears to have its original parts!) The large screw on the middle shaft of the lamp allows the height of the shade and the oil burner to be adjusted. The Green Cased Glass Shade is in beautiful condition without nicks, chips, or cracks. The uneven rim shown in a close up photo is typical of this type of shade.
The Patent date on the lamp is marked: "House's Argand Patent November 18, 1871." Argand's original design featured the incorporation of a hollow cylinder within the circular wick, which allowed air to flow inside and outside a flame at the upper edge of a fuel-soaked wick.
The brass finish of the lamp shows some spotting. It is being sold as found from an Estate. Photos of the lamp at several heights have been included. The inner cannister is intact with a dent noted but without apparent compromise.
